SCREAM 6 confirmed as the goriest SCREAM yet but loses it's queen (NEWS)

SCREAM 6 (working title) may now be well into development after the success of the 2022 hit SCREAM, not to be confused by the film SCREAM but in fact is a direct sequel the original slasher classic and is yet the 5th instalment and with news of the cast may be more than a continuation of everything that came before. Oh who are we kidding, who cares now, we just want to see Ghostface back chillin' and killin' without the new wave of sequel politics dominating horror.

Returning from SCREAM [2022] are survivors Tara (Jenna Ortega), Sam (Melissa Barrera), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding). On reading the first script, Ortega told Entertainment Tonight, “Ghostface gets a lot more intimidating,” continuing, “I just read part of the script, and it just gets more and more gory. I think that this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think will really be fun to shoot.”

Joining the cast will be series is Hayden Panettiere's who will reprise her SCREAM 4 character Kirby. “I’m not even going to try to touch on it,” Ortega said when asked by Entertainment Tonight about Panettiere’s return. “She has been one of my favourite characters in the franchise for a long time so the fact that her character gets to come back and redeem herself is really exciting.”

With (spoiler) the sad departure of David Arquette we know who won't be returnin but if SCREAM [2022] has taught us one thing, even the dead can return in some form or another so who knows who else from the franchise will return, we can gurantee Courtney Cox will be bacl as news anchor Gail Wethers but news has reached that series favourite and franchise icon Neve Campbell may not be back on our screens.

Despite the financial success of SCREAM [2022] the actress has walked away over contractual pay disagreement. Campbell announced today that “Sadly I won’t be making the next SCREAM film.”

“As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to SCREAM,” the actress says about her turn in the $744M-plus grossing global franchise, “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my SCREAM fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years,” adds Campbell.

Fortunately Campbell will be back sooner than that alongside Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz and Thomas Haden Church in the TV adaptation of the TWISTED METAL series.

SCREAM 6 is opening on March 31, 2023; the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. Filmmakers Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett), who were behind the last chapter, are coming back with James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay.
